Herbal plants look great in your garden. If you like gardening, it’s fun to experiment with herbs. The combination of plants with green leaves, green-yellow leaves, and gray-green leaves makes your garden a beautiful picture. Just put some herb plants with grey-green leaves in between and you’ll see.
Herbal Plants With Grey-Green Foliage
The following applies to most herb plants: place them in a large group in the garden. Not a plant here and a plant there, because then you miss the point. I also describe the flowering here, but all these plants are also beautiful when they are not flowering.
Marjoram
Marjoram is also called oregano. The plant is 20 cm high and 15 cm wide. Marjolein is common in Dutch gardens. It is best to place the plant in a group, in partial shade. In the summer, the plant gives a nice bloom, but even if this herb plant does not bloom, it is worth seeing.
Mustard
The mustard plants are wonderful herbal plants. It grows quite high, namely 1 to 2 meters. With its grey-green, soft, and branched leaves, the plant has a high ornamental value in the garden. The flowering of the mustard plant is beautiful: all light yellow bright balls. This plant is also best placed in a large group.
Chamomile
The chamomile plants always do well in the garden herbal plants. Because the petals and the flowers are not close together, but there is a lot of space between them (so it is not a ‘compact’ plant), it is also best to place a group of chamomile in your garden, close to each other. It is therefore better suited for a somewhat larger garden. In a small garden, a group of chamomile does not come into its own. In terms of flowering, it resembles a Margriet.

Catnip
This plant has heart-shaped leaves. Beautiful because of its fibrous spreading shape. The stem is square, erect, and branched. The bloom consists of white chalice-like flowers. It’s a fluffy plant. Cats really love this, so the plant is less suitable if you don’t want cats in the garden.
Rue
This herb plant is a beautiful shrub with decorative leaves. A topper! The shrub can be nicely pruned into shape. The plant needs a lot of sun and grows to about 60 cm high and 30 cm wide. The leaf is gray-blue-green, thin, and elongated. The flower consists of four petals and is yellow. Rue forms a wonderful combination with other plants!
Rosemary
These herb plants, like the wine rue, are an absolute winner! Rosemary is a shrub with the most beautiful grey-green leaves. The leaves are arranged crosswise. The plant looks ‘orderly’, less ‘wild’ than other herbal plants. When flowering, this plant gets pale blue flowers, but this is a nice extra. The plant has a high ornamental value without flowers. It grows to 90 cm high and a meter wide.
